Most people don't think twice about their AC coils. Out of sight, out of mind. But when those coils get clogged - really clogged - the system starts working overtime just to keep up. And that extra strain lands hardest on the compressor.

That's exactly what happened here. The coil was so blocked with debris and buildup that the compressor couldn't handle the load. It failed. A compressor replacement is one of the most expensive repairs in the HVAC world, and in a lot of cases it's completely avoidable.

The buildup we're talking about isn't always dramatic from the outside. It creeps up slowly - dust, lint, debris, all of it packing into the coil fins over time. Airflow gets restricted little by little. The system compensates. Then one day it just can't compensate anymore.

This is exactly why we talk so much about regular maintenance and duct cleaning. Clean ducts mean less debris circulating through the system. A clean coil means your AC doesn't have to fight to do its job. Catching this stuff early - before it snowballs into a compressor failure - is the whole point.

We're not just blowing air when we say routine checkups matter. This is what skipping them can cost you. A little preventive attention goes a long way toward keeping your system running through the hottest days of the year without an emergency repair bill waiting on the other side.
